Borussia Dortmund newboy Erling Haaland, whose life at the Signal Iduna Park began with a big bang, claims his decision to join that particular club had nothing to do with money.
As Sky Sports understood the situation, Manchester United were willing to pay the release clause set in his contract with RB Salzburg, set at £17 million, but they drew the line at being asked to insert a similar clause in their own deal with the Norwegian striker. Speaking to Norwegian TV Viasport, the 19-year-old said he would ask the people who wrote about his move being the result of greed to explain themselves, if he ever met them.
Haaland also revealed that he was thinking about Dortmund even before the season started, but at that time it wasn’t an option. It became one towards the winter, and he believes he has made the perfect choice for this particular moment in his career.
