Arsenal have decided to keep Eddie Nketiah at the club for the second half of the season, according to BBC, Sky Sports, and several other media outlets.
There are many factors to be considered when the short-term fate of a young player, currently without a regular place in the first team, is decided between keeping him at home under close observation and sending him out on loan to get some game-time under his belt. Nketiah spent some time with Leeds United this season, scoring five goals in 19 appearances, but has been recalled to North London. The 20-year-old has been targeted as a temporary signing for the second half of the season by Sheffield Wednesday, Bristol City and Nottingham Forest, but after talks were held with Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta, it has been decided that he stays put.
With Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang suspended for the next three matches, it’s quite possible Nketiah makes an appearance, though at this point he might find himself behind Gabriel Martinelli in the queue to fill the experienced forward’s shoes.
